The game of life and business can be crazy.

Every single person experiences ups and downs, high and lows.

There’s no way around it.

Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of believing they can force results.

As a result, they burn out over time or start to despise what they once loved.

Maybe you can relate to this?

Maybe you believe if you just work harder, you’ll solve the problem.

I will have you consider, the more you try to force a result, the longer it will take and the more effort it will require.

There is a better way.

You cannot solve a problem in the same emotional state it was created in.

This means, if you’re trying to get your Facebook Ads up and running and technology doesn’t seem to be cooperating and you get frustrated, you’re not going to be able to find a way to get them up and running as long as your frustrated.

Instead, the moment you allow yourself to shift to a different emotion of hope, happiness and love, you’ll find the solution.

Often times many entrepreneurs are hard headed and believe if they just try harder a little longer, they’ll get the solution.

It’s one of the many gifts we have that allow us to persevere during hard times and has lead to our success.

It’s a blessing, yet it’s also a curse.

It’s a curse because when things don’t go our way, we believe we can make them go our way.

I’ve learned when I’m not producing the result I seek, if I take time to actually stop and do some shift moves, I can get into a better state of mind and solve problems quicker.

So how do we do this?

Step #1: Emotions Are Messengers

The first step is to consider all emotions are nothing more than messengers.

If you’re feeling angry it comes from feeling like something has been taken from you.

If you’re feeling frustrated it all comes from not understanding what’s going on.

If you’re feeling guilty it comes from feeling you did something wrong.

All of these feelings doesn’t mean they are right or wrong, instead they simply are.

Once you accept the fact your emotions are messengers, you can start receiving the feedback they are offering you.

If you’re angry, ask yourself what do you feel you lost.

If you’re frustrated, ask yourself what you do not understand.

If you feel guilty, ask yourself what you feel you did wrong.

Don’t waste your time blaming someone else because it’s a waste of your time and energy.

Instead, take responsibility and learn the lesson that is being offered to you.

Step #2: Break Your State

Albert Einstein has been quoted as saying, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”

So you want results, you must learn to shift your emotional state.

If you don’t and you continue taking action from a place of anger, frustration, shame or guilt, you’ll continue to yield the same emotional outcomes.

The best way to break your state is to get out of your mind and into your body:

Here are five ways to get back into your body quickly:

1. Burpees

A burpee is a full body exercise used in strength training and is a great aerobic exercise. They are tough and will get you back into your body after a set of 5 to 10.

The basic movement is performed in four simple steps.

2. Weight Lifting

Lifting weights is a great way to engage your body and stop your mind from driving your behavior.

Here’s a great workout you can use in the gym:

3. Boxing

Boxing has become a favorite hobby of mine because the workout is intense and forces me to only think about boxing. Plus it increases my confidence and certainty levels, which has a direct impact on my business.

At the time of writing this post I train with, former UFC Champion, Guy Mezger.

4. Breathing

One of the most overlooked things about high performance and shifting your state is breathing.

Did you know children have more energy than adults because they use more than 70% of their lung capacity than adults do?

Crazy right. Learning to breathe properly has radically changed my life because any time my mind starts racing, I immediately take time to perform a breathing exercise.

It is by far the fastest thing I know to break my state.

Here’s a video about using a guided breathing technique using an old ancient method called Pranayama Breathing:

5. Singing along to your favorite song

I love music. You may know I used to tour professionally in a band called Trade Cities.

Another great way to break your state is to put on your favorite band and start singing along.

You can’t help but put an end to the madness when your jamming out.

I don’t have a YouTube tutorial on this one because you know what to do. 🙂

I’m always amazed when I get out of my mind and into my body, how quickly I find an answer to my problem.

Step #3: Take Inspired Action

Once you have broken your disempowering emotional state and you feel you have a new inspired action to take, take it!

The moment we start to second guess ourselves and over analyze everything, we usually start feeling angry, frustrated or guilty all over again.

Don’t let the pattern repeat.

The only way to shift your state for good is to have a new experience. The only way to make that happen is to take action.
